Email Patrick
Patrick began playing music when he was 9 years old. His older brother Tyler had been studying violin so Patrick decided to try the cello. By the time he started his sophomore year of high school, Patrick had switched to playing the string bass and the bass guitar. A native Iowan, he went to the University of Iowa on a music scholarship. He studied with renowned bass gurus Eldon Obrecht, Diana Gannett and Anthony Cox. While in school, Patrick played with various jazz groups, rock bands and symphony orchestras. After graduating from Iowa in 1995, he moved to Chicago and began a busy career playing music. He joined Underwater People in 1998 and is one of the founding members of Country Sky Band.
Patrick has had the opportunity to play with many artists including: the Moody Blues, Tal Farlow, Stephen Stills, Louie Bellson, Matt Wilson, and the Chicago Jazz Composers Collective. In addition to UWP and CSB, he can be seen performing with: the Nia Quintet, Typhanie Monique, Marques Carroll and Full Set, the Nick Bisesi Quartet, Omar al Musfi and HiJazz and John Erickson.
When he is not playing music, Patrick enjoys traveling, reading and cooking. He entered in his first triathlon last year and is training to race several more this year. He lives in Berwyn, Illinois with his wife Kara and their dog Sammy.
