Ideally, your actual wedding day will end up just how you've envisioned your perfect day to be. We're here to help. Underwater People has played almost 250 weddings. We can help with the advance planning of your day and with keeping things on track during the event to make sure things run smoothly and fulfill your vision of that perfect day. Musically, we'll keep your reception rocking, with the goal of having your guests say, "That was the best reception I've ever been to!!!". We've heard that on many occasions - even from other vendors (photographers, and reception venue staff).
Generally speaking, your wedding will fall into one of two packages; a Classic Wedding or an East Coast Wedding. With that said, we will customize our performance to whatever you need/prefer.
Classic Wedding Package:
Here's a ballpark timeline of a Classic Wedding:
5:00 – 6:00 Cocktail Hour (iPod or Live Trio)
6:00 – 6:30 Guests seated for dinner, introductions, speeches, blessing.
6:30 – 8:00 Dinner and Dessert (iPod or Band)
8:00 – 11:00 Band Begins - Dancing preceded by Special Dances (First Dance, Parents etc.)

Early arrival and Set up - Our equipment (sound and lights) arrives 2 hours in advance of your guests arrival. That way everyone will walk in to a completely finished room.
'Canned' Background Music - we will roll our iPod "Wedding Background" playlist for you during the time before we start playing. Your iPod playlist is also more than happily plugged in to our system during these times. During our one band break we also have fun 'iPod' tunes to keep your party rockin'. Should you need sound in another room during cocktails/dinner, we will take care of that for no additional charge.
Emcee Services - We take care of any announcements, including, but not limited to, introduction of the wedding party, introduction of any toasts or speeches, cake cutting, and blessings.
Dancing - The band will play a 3 hour dance set with only one short 10 minute break in the middle. Unlike a lot of bands that go 45 minutes on and then 15 minutes off for each hour - we like to avoid the buzz kill of yet "another band break?!?!". We realize you're paying us to entertain your family and friends on the most important day of your life, and we're not very entertaining if we're not on stage. Breaks are overrated. Playing music is fun for us!
East Coast Wedding Package:
This package is for couples who want live music dancing sets interspersed throughout the evening with one longer set at the conclusion of dinner. The live music typically starts with the band playing the guests into the room from the cocktail hour (which most often is in another room).
Here is a ballpark timeline of an East Coast Wedding:
5:00 – 6:00 Cocktails (iPod or Live Trio)
6:00 – 6:15 As the doors open to your main room, the band performs a set to help the guests move from cocktails to dinner
6:15 – 6:30 Introductions, speeches and blessing.
6:30 – 6:45 First course served (iPod music)
6:45 – 7:05 Band performs short dance set
7:05 – 7:25 Second course served (iPod music)
7:25 – 7:40 Band performs short dance set
7:40 – 8:40 Dinner and Dessert (iPod music)
8:40 – 11:00 Dancing
This package also includes early arrival, canned background music when needed and emcee services.

Ceremony Music -
We typically perform a classical guitar/piano or classical guitar/upright bass duo for couples wedding ceremonies. Elegantly simple is the best way to describe this duo. Check out the last couple of audio links on our site for examples.
Cocktail Hour Music -
Being classically trained jazz musicians helps when folks ask us about performing live during your cocktail hour. Depending on the band configuration (UWP or Big Show), three musicians will play a fun, lively mix of instrumental classics from the golden age of Jazz and Blues to entertain your guests during the first part of your wedding reception. Is it necessary? No, but it does add a classy touch to the start of your party.
Dinner Music -
Other band leaders may tell you that you absolutely need live music throughout your night, including the dinner hour. We're here to tell you that you don't. While we'd be happy to play live music during dinner, we believe it's an unnecessary expense for you. People are focused on their meal and the conversation at their table. At the conclusion of your reception, more often than not, guests could not tell you if there was live music playing during dinner. Our iPod "Wedding Dinner Hour" playlist will do the job. However, as mentioned, we'd happy to play this part of your reception too!
